Artist Information
Skavoovie and the Epitones were one of third-wave ska’s most influential voices. A standout act on Moon Ska Records, they captured the spirit of old-school Jamaica with a hard bop-inspired sound that earned high praise from critics. Billboard called it “irresistible,” CMJ described it as “infectious and boisterous,” and for years, the band was a top draw on the scene, thrilling audiences across eleven national tours, three celebrated albums, and an MTV-featured music video. Their live performances became the stuff of ska lore. When Skavoovie reunited after a twenty-five-year hiatus for the 2024 Supernova International Ska Festival, the magic was unmistakably back and a new generation of ska fans took notice. During the summer of 2025 the band is bringing its legendary sound to Boston and New York for highly anticipated shows. With an all-original lineup—featuring vocalist Ans Purins, trumpeters Jesse Farber and Ben Lewis, saxophonists Jon Natchez (alto/baritone) and Ben Jaffe (tenor), euphonium player Joe Wensink, keyboardist Eugene Cho, guitarist Daniel Neely, bassist Rob Jost, and drummer Ben Herson—these will be must-see performances for true ska enthusiasts.
